Establishment of "Ekologia i promyshlennost Rossii" («Ecology and Industry of Russia») (EKiP) Journal has been realized with participation of the Physicochemistry and Inorganic Materials Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the person of Ju.A. Buslaev, Academician-Secretary of the Branch, Academicians S.V. Yakovlev, V.D. Rusanov, A.M. Kutepov, etc. and the Machine Science Branch in the person of Academician K.V. Frolov and Correspondent Member N.A. Makhutov.
A distinctive feature of this unique publication consists in the creative approach to the matter, which is exhibited in everything beginning in the title in which the concepts of "ecology" and "industry" are, by definition, mutually exclusive and co-exist within the limits of the dilemma. Upon connecting them with conjunctive "and", the Journal became a conductor of ideas of the inevitable compromise within the limits of determining the consensus of sustainable development, support, and propagation of nature protection and resource saving technologies, an active participant in the course of ecological world outlook formation.
The Journal has been registered by the State Press Committee of the Russian Federation in the year of 1996 (certificate of registration No. 014357 dated 16.01.1996), and further it was re-registered in the RF Ministry for Press, TV-and-Radio Broadcasting and Means of Mass Communications (certificate of registration of the mass media ПИ №77-12993 dated June 20, 2002). In 1996 the Journal has gained the number of international registration ISSN 1816-0395.
