Abstract

Peat is renewable source of energy (RSE), and as recognized UNO and European Parliament, it is the third for reserves fuel of Russia. This kind of fuel deposited at swamp lands. Peat is a green and cost-cutting fuel. Annual increase of peat reserves is 88 MIO tons of oil equivalent. During 1980s in Russia mined by the commercial process 50 MIO of peat, and it could be enable running of electrical capacity of 5 thousand MWt. In 1990s these capacity find abandoned because of consumers lost. As consequence we see fires in Moscow Region in 2010, smoke formation and smog in Moscow. What is to be done? How to protect Moscow from repetition of such events? There is need restore peat digging, and simultaneous restore of local fuel reserves in regions. Possibilities of peat gasification are a new direction in country gasification.
